It's been a while....

Seems that it's been a while since I posted - didn't realise how long until I just looked. 

 I've started a Flosstube with my daughter since I stopped updating my blog. We talk about my cross stitch and her diamond painting! You can find us at jobee's journal

 In June, I started doing the 24 hour monthly challenges put out by Jen Lee (instagram handle quirksandstitches). There have been a couple of 24 hour stitching events and in June, Jen added an acrostic challenge for the month. The idea was to do something that related to the letters in TWENTY FOUR, for a certain amount of time or stitches. I liked the idea of tracking time rather than stitches - most of the other challenges have you count stitches which I just don't do! I chose to do 240 minutes on each project.

 I talked about these projects on our Flosstube, but I've worked on most of them since I did the 240 minutes on each of them. They are also documented on my instagram page - jobee's journal but aren't in order.

 T - The Blue Mountains (semco kit) Stitched 2 over 1 on 18 count Aida




W - Wreath of Wildflowers Stitched 1 over 1 on 22 count Hardanger fabric with the called for DMC

E - Even Superheroes ( NikkiPattern on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/271274250/baby-cross-stitch-pattern-personalized) Stitched 2 over 1 on 14 count Aida with the called for DMC threads

N - Noel (started and finished in the 240 minutes) Stitched 1 over 1 on 22 count Hardanger fabric in the called for DMC


T - The Pioneer ( Country Threads http://www.countrythreads.info/Enlarged%20Images/4009%20The%20Pioneer.html) Stitched 2 over 1 on 16 count Aida





Y - Wattle (because it's Yellow!) The bookmark was partially done when I bought it from an op shop. I did the remainder of the wattle blossoms then did the rest of the time on the wattle in Wreath of Wildflowers.




F - Flanders Fields (Country Threads kit)



O - Noel by Gazette94 https://gazette94.blogspot.com/2008/10/grille-gratuite-63.html (One Colour) Stitched 1 over 2 on 40 count linen/evenweave (bought it at an op shop so not exactly sure)



U - more on Even Superheroes including the U! My original plan was to stitch on a Rainbow Fish kit I got from a magazine - mucked it up so will have to start it over.



R - Babushka (Russian Doll) I got this as a birthday present a few years ago so decided to start it on my birthday this year!

Camping

Over the Easter weekend we go camping (most years anyway). We go out to P's cousins property & camp in the bush. This was the first time for SJ & we weren't sure she'd like it. See the smile on her face? It was there for most of the time we were there! She loved it. Early on she asked where the sink & bath were (the toilet had to be hurriedly put together when she needed to go!) She ran around most of the weekend with no shoes, playing in the dirt. We had to soak her feet on the last morning. It looked like she had a huge splinter in her foot - but it was just a cut that was full of dirt. The only bandaids we had wouldn't stick (I'd already proved that after I'd burnt my hand the day before), so she got her foot bandaged - she then ran around with 1 gumboot & 1 sneaker until I took her home. School Holiday Stitching

This is the first school holidays in a while where we haven't had the whole 2 weeks filled with stuff to do! Yes we are away, but we are staying with family, my husband is working (he's working in Sydney for 6 weeks) and for the rest of us there's not much on the agenda. So there has been plenty of time for me to cross stitch and my 2 girls have been doing a lot of Diamond Dotz pictures. I finished my smallest project - the Iris kit I got from the op shop. I had some time waiting for medical appointments last week so was able to get a bit done then so just kept going until it was finished  It was a pretty dodgy kit! The needle was a normal sewing needle, the dark green wasn't on the pattern and then the hoop type frame that came with it didn't fit!! My First Blog Post

I've had this blog set up for a while, but haven't done anything about it. I set it up with the aim of showing off some of the notebooks I make. I kept a Xanga blog for a while, but it's kinda been left to rot now. So the notebooks I make - there's an example to the left. It's basically a photo made into a notebook. The original instructions (which I'll post when I work out how to post links etc) has a photo for the front & back page. I did this to start with, but now work with recycled cereal boxes etc for the back cover. Inside are a mix of new & recycled pages - though some have all recycled or all new pages. And it's developed from there - I've made them out of cereal boxes covered with pretty paper, used the packaging from drinks, iceblocks & am making some now made from free postcards I picked up in Sydney.
